Our Club

Our Club is the oldest club in the Geelong Region dating back to 1925. We are strongly committed to community service be that locally or internationally where in recent times we have supported improving the quality of life for village people in Nabavatu Fiji, Sariri Papua New Guinea, Northern Sri Lanka schools in Samoa and a hospital in Viqueque in East Timor.

Locally the focus has been on supporting children and families, including, Bethany Father of the Year and Geelong Mums to name a couple. Among our many activities is the management of the Old Geelong Gaol, where our Rotarians act as tour guides enabling locals and visitors to experience its atmosphere and follow its history. The Club also runs a Pie van at Simmonds Stadium which contributes many thousands of dollars to the club coffers for community work.

At July 2017 we have some 59 members from a broad age group and a wide range of professions and businesses including a number of Corporate members who join as a corporate team and rotate their members weekly as an opportunity to engage in community service and for personal development

Rotary Club of Geelong - About Us

Friendship and Business Development

The two reasons Paul Harris began Rotary in 1905:

  • Personal Growth
  • You mix with members who are as committed as you and a sharing of ideas to continue your personal and professional development through a well-respected organisation.

Leadership Development
We can benefit from the development of your ideas.

Serving our local community rates highly in our outlook.

Continuing Education
Each week we invite guests who are chosen to inform and enlighten.

Public Speaking Skills

Geelong Rotary allows the opportunity to enhance and develop your confidence and skill in public communication.

Worldwide Organisation

Contacts around the world.

Our club uses activities that provide social interaction and camaraderie.

Develop Social Skills

Every week and at various events and functions, we aim to develop one's personality, social and people skills.

Next Generation

Programs Rotary provides one of the world's largest youth exchange programs and youth leadership programs. We actively engage in developing the youth of our area.

Vocational Skills

Rotary fosters growth and development in each person's profession, vocation or interest and encourages sharing this development with others.

Ethics Reinforcement

As Rotarians, we practice a 4-way Test which governs ethical standards. Rotarians are expected to be ethical in business and personal relationships.

Cultural Awareness

Geelong Rotary is a cross section of the prominent citizens from every background. Rotarians learn to love and work with people everywhere.

The People

Rotarians are people who adhere to the policy that while it is nice to be important, it is more important to be nice.

Rotary is an open society of men and women who simply believe in helping others.

The Opportunity to Serve

Geelong Rotary is a service club.  This is perhaps the best reason for becoming a Rotarian: the chance to do something for somebody else.
