Geelong central rotarian Jane Cox was a director of Australian Rotary Health Foundation (ARH), and her tenure has just come to an end. Jane has contributed to ARH working towards research into health issues, principally mental health. It also helps fund the indigenous health scholarships – for a nurse or other health workers from outback who return to provide services in their community.

7 out of 10 families say yes to donation, if they already know that their loved one wants to be a donor. This increases to 9 out of 10 families saying yes, if their loved one is a registered donor.

We hope it support our community's cultural identity across generations. And increase our capacity to enhance the lives of marginalized or isolated people in our community by trying to make Geelong their new home.
Bantu is the Zulu word for people. Bantu is also the name of tribes that are from central Africa all the at to Southern Africa. It is one of the the largest tribes in Africa.
This On the 10th of September members loaded a 40ft container with 9 playgrounds plus school supplies supplied (from DIK) ready to ship to The Rotary Club of Port Moresby, who will have them installed at the General Hospital (Childrens Ward), Police Station (Domestic Violence Unit – to occupy children whilst mum is interviewed), Ella beach, and at 5 schools.
The Mallacoota Bush fire book “When the fire comes by” is a beautiful collection of Artwork and poetry developed after the Mallacoota bush fires. All proceeds go to the Mallacoota Arts Council
This month, the Rotaract Club of Djilang (Geelong) report on 'Jazz Swings: Mood Swings' and their involvement in this event.
On the evening of September 2nd almost 200 people got in the mood for mental health.
Jazz Swings had a roaring first year and raised $12k for organisations that offer support for youth facing mental health problems.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Geelong in conjunction with Kardinia International College, North Geelong Secondary College and St Joseph’s College the evening was alive with jazz, dancing, food and wine! Student bands from Kardinia College and St Joseph’s College blew away the audience with their instrumental melody and there was no better way to describe North Geelong College’s food platter other than delicious! Our hearts and souls were filled with joy either from the delight in seeing our youth thrive or from the endless flow of wine (you decide)!
Funds raised via ticket sales, generous raffle prizes and silent auctions put us well over the goal for the evening. Funds will be going to Ocean Mind, The Power In You Project and Headspace. Hearing speakers from these organisations helped individuals realise the impact these organisations are having on youth and the amazing support they are providing.
Huge shout out to John Seal and his tremendous effort in pulling together this superb event. The members of the Rotaract Club of Djilang (Geelong) would like to thank John for providing us the opportunity to help promote the event on social media – this was an wonderful chance for us to develop our content delivery skills and to get involved in a fun community project.
Overall this was a magnificent evening and one that will become part of the Rotary calendar each year.
On the 27th of September, the Pivot Cinema was packed with Rotarians who gathered for some fun and fellowship to watch Elvis! Thank you to the Rotary Club of Geelong East for hosting the event!
On September 21st, Rotary Celebrated International Peace Day. Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centres. Since the program began in 2002, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,500 fellows who now work in over 115 countries. As World Polio Day approaches, we’re getting ready to amplify our message about eradicating polio to protect the world’s children from this devastating disease.
We’ve made tremendous progress so far, and now’s the time to intensify our fight to make polio the second human disease ever to be eradicated. In 2020, the World Health Organization’s African region was certified free of wild poliovirus, showing that eradication is possible even in very difficult circumstances.
The wild poliovirus remains endemic in just two countries — Afghanistan and Pakistan— but as long as polio exists anywhere, it remains a threat everywhere. So let’s use World Polio Day to advocate for the support we need to end polio in countries where children are still as risk.
